Our Story

The Young Stroke Service is Australia's first health service dedicated to helping young people after stroke

We are a pilot service to help young stroke survivors aged 18-55 years old in Victoria and South Australia.

The Young Stroke Service supports young stroke survivors in recovery. We can assess how you are doing, connect you with services, and show you treatment options.

This is a trial service and will run until December 2026.

We do not replace other services in the community.

Young stroke in Australia

Stroke changes a young person's life.

It affects their who they are, how they work and study, their relationships, and mental health.

Many young people are building their careers or caring for their families.

Young stroke survivors live with the impact of stroke for longer. But right now, services do not always meet their needs.

It is even harder to get help in rural and regional areas of Australia.

The Young Stroke Service aims to change this.
